Kilachand Hall Phase 2 – Construction Update – 08/18/23

General Project Information

  • Daily Work Hours from 7am-3pm.
    • The jersey barrier site containment has been removed.
    • Accessible spots and meters will be re-established the week of August 31st. The temporary accessible spots in front of 81 Bay State Road will stay in place until the permanent signs are back up.
    • The bike lane remains fully functional in front of Kilachand Hall.
  • BU parking spots directly behind Kilachand Hall on Back Street remain a “no parking zone”. This will continue through next week until the utility work is completed to maintain an adequate drive lane for local traffic on Back Street and allow for the construction team to safely contain a work area North of the dormitory.

Project Status

  • The renovation team has received the certificate of occupancy for Kilachand Hall and the renovation is down to a small punch list inside the building and some remaining landscaping, exterior utility work, and roof work on Back Street.
  • Residence Life and Honors College staff members have started moving back into the building to occupy their office spaces and ready themselves for the fall semester.
  • The RAs will be moving back this weekend to start their readiness checklists for the incoming students.

During the Weekend of August 19th

  • Consigli – On site for supervision.
  • Titan Roofing – One crew on site working on the low roof installation.
  • Brightview – Continuing with the front yard landscape plantings.
  • Riggs – Carpenters working on the punch list and close-out items.

During the Week of August 21st

  • Sidewalk access in front of Kilachand Hall is now available during the day as the team works towards demobilizing from the construction area.
  • Titan Roofing working to complete the installation of the low roof on Back Street.
  • Brightview will complete the front yard landscaping, plantings, and bike rack installation.
  • Dow on site to continue work on the north drainage system on Back Street.
  • Consigli on site providing supervision, punch list management, and project closeout, as well as new renovation equipment training sessions for the University’s Facilities Management & Operations team.
