Warren Towers Renovation – Construction Update – 1/10/2025

General Project Information

  • Daily works are from 7:00 am until 3:30 pm.
  • Nightly works are from 8:00 pm until 7:00 am.
  • The team is currently in two phases, the Main renovation project and the Winter Intersession investigation/ enabling phases.

During the weekend of 1/11

  • Brand Safeway will continue to assemble overhead protection scaffolding on the front of the building along Commonwealth Ave. on the night shift.  

During the week of 1/13

Exterior Work

4th Floor Podium Roof 

  • Crews will continue working on the stagging support steel at the low roofs (East & West of Tower A).  

Front Façade (Commonwealth Ave) 

  • Crews will continue the installation of overhead safety protection the building along Commonwealth Ave in the night shift, which will remain in place for the entire duration of the project through all phases.

Rear Façade (Rear Alley)  

  • Crews will continue installing temporary stairs, overhead protection, shoring towers, and scaffolding at the rear of the building.  
Stagging in the Rear Alley
  • There will be a partial alley closure on Monday and Tuesday: Electricians will be setting up large reels of wire and pulling them into conduits which will require a barricaded work zone. Please follow the signage for alternate pedestrian routes. 
  • Crews will be working in the rear alley to chip brick veneer on the exterior wall on levels 4 and 5. 

    Cummington Mall 

    • Tower A’s steel bridge beams will be delivered and assembled. 
    • Bridge shoring towers at hoist way foundation will be assembled.  

    Hinsdale Mall 

    • There is a temporary fence area that crews will be using as a scaffolding laydown area.    

    Interior Work

      Towers 

      • Kone will be onsite surveying the existing escalators in preparation for replacement, taking individual sections offline for short durations as needed. 

      Parking Garage 

      • Electrical work will continue in the temporary electric room on the 1st floor. 
      • Crews will conduct selective coring to investigate structural slab repair work.   

      4th Floor and Dining Area 

      • Teams will reinstall ceiling tiles and complete a final cleaning of the Dining Hall. 

      Future/Notable Tasks

      • Crane work is scheduled for the weekend of January 25th and a formal notification has been issued; a second Notice will be sent out mid-week.
