Spiritual Formation and Church Life

Lighted Path 09-1681-STHVIEWS-001Within the Center for Practical Theology, the Spiritual Formation and Church Life Project advances research in spirituality studies with a focus on spiritual practices. Toward this end, SFCL builds connections and partnerships between centers of theological education, congregations/parishes, retreat centers, spiritual directors, and other religious leaders to identify and study creative approaches to spiritual formation in diverse contemporary contexts. We are particularly interested in research on Sabbath; spiritual direction; vocation; spiritual autobiography; and spiritual renewal. SFCL also partners with the Office of Spiritual Life at the School of Theology to support the spiritual nurture of students in their formation as religious leaders and theological educators.
