Bold Moves to Success
Throughout his 24-year career, Shabbir Dahod (CAS’85) has been a cutting-edge innovator focused on the intersection of technology, business and management. He started by developing an accounting package for the emerging Macintosh and Windows platforms while working at Layered Inc. Then Shabbir took a leap of faith and joined lead investor Paul Allen at his startup Asymetrix, establishing the company as a leader in Multimedia Authoring technology for Computer Based Learning.
Following Asymetrix, Shabbir moved from a startup to the biggest software company in the country, leading new collaboration and knowledge management initiatives at Microsoft. In 1999, he moved back into the startup realm by founding iWant, an early leader in the market for search-based, Internet advertising-supported applications. Following iWant, he served as interim CEO at Performaworks to revamp company direction in the corporate employee and goal management market. He then founded SupplyScape Corporation in 2003 to create the de-facto leader in software solutions to safeguard the pharmaceutical supply chain.
Now Shabbir is President and CEO of TraceLink Inc. and also a Venture Partner at FirstMark Capital. Along the way in his remarkable career, he has obtained several patents for document compression, electronic supply chain methods and systems, multimedia linking, etc. Shabbir enjoys staying in shape, and has competed in both the San Francisco and Disney marathons. He lives in Andover, Massachusetts, with his wife and two sons. Last year, BU recognized Shabbir’s decades of success by naming him the Computing Alumni Network (CAN) Distinguished Alumnus for 2011.
