Senior Systems Administrator

Scott Norwood joined the Department of Computer Science in 2022 as our senior Linux systems administrator. In this role, he builds and manages a wide range of Linux-based infrastructure in support of the Department’s research, instructional, and operational missions, and also serves as the primary contact for Linux desktop support matters.

After graduating with a degree in Government from the College of William and Mary, Scott chose to eschew politics and return to his native Boston to work with computers, which he has found to be much simpler and less temperamental than politicians.

For the last twenty-five years, he has done system administration work for several software companies, a publishing company, and, most recently, Northeastern University, where he managed Linux and AIX systems for the central IT organization for six years.

Scott lives in the Back Bay and enjoys travel, watching baseball, and doing film and video projection work for various film festivals.
