How do you find community at BU? In Boston?

By approaching everything with an open mind. I especially love attending events that are open to public. My favorites are events in the arts, such as volunteering and tabling at Multiple Formats Art Book Fair!

What is your favorite CSC experience and why?

My favorite CSC experience has been going on the Alternative Service Break Trip to the Shawnee National Forest as a leader. I loved building great, ever-lasting friendships with the co-lead (Steph), volunteers, and our amazing community partner. I especially appreciated the opportunity to learn more about what goes behind the scene of forest maintenance and found a deeper admiration for efforts that forests technicians put into protection of the forests and ensuring safety. Our community partner taught us about the ripple effect–how our good intentions and actions will have influence in places that we might not notice and also will be a catalyst for someone else’s virtuous actions. I hope to continue being influenced by the ripple effect from others and have those effects on others that I encounter.

What advice would you give to a student looking to get involved?

Approaching everything with an open mind but with intention. One important thing I learned is to reflect on my action instead of just doing something.
