Instruction Labs Manager in Electrical & Computer Engineering

Job Description

  • Laboratory assistance to the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Faculty teaching courses with laboratory assignments and to the students utilizing the instructional laboratories.
  • Collaborate with the College of Engineering Information Technology staff assigned to support the ECE Department information technology and systems.
  • Assist lab users on how to use lab equipment and software.
  • Install, configure and maintain software and hardware.
  • Manage and maintain the physical space of the labs.
  • Hire and supervise lab assistants.
  • Order supplies, and maintain records and documentation.

Required Skills

  • B.A./B.S., Knowledge of electrical and computer engineering tools, software, and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of UNIX based operating systems (Linux, Solaris), Microsoft operating systems and familiarity with Active Directory.
  • Good knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. VBScript, Python, Powershell, Bash).
  • Understanding of computer networking protocols and how to debug them.
  • Systems management and operational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Three to five years of related experience.
