Jacqueline Milton has a PhD in Biostatistics and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics in the School of Public Health and Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science in the Metropolitan College. She teaches Introduction to Biostatistics (BS 704), Introduction to Statistical Computing (BS 723), Introduction to R (BS 720) and Quantitative Methods for Information Systems (CS 546). She is the recipient of numerous teaching awards at BUSPH. Jacqueline works as a biostatistician for the Center of Sickle Cell Excellence where she examines genetic modifiers associated with disease severity in sickle cell patients developing and applying methodologies in genome-wide association studies, next generation sequencing, and genetic risk prediction. Jacqueline also collaborates with researchers a Harvard University’s and John Hopkin’s Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to examine publication bias and its association with conflict of interest. She also collaborates with Project SEARCH (Scanning Ears For Child Health) which is a collaboration with the International Health Department to examine how ear biometrics can be used to keep track of medical records in countries where ID systems are extremely unreliable (a project that has also been funded through Crowd Funding). Jacqueline is involved in running the Public Health and Biostatistics Lab series for the Upward Bound Math/Science Summer Program, a program whose purpose is to prepare low-income and first-generation college bound students for success in higher education. Jacqueline is also the co-Principal Investigator of Boston University School of Public Health’s Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics which is designed to promote interest in the field of Biostatistics and the many career opportunities in the field.
