Karen Palmer is a Platform Software Engineer with Pazien, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Worldpay, an international company which provides secure payment services for small and large businesses, including payments online, card machines and telephone payments.  Karen has worked in application development (primarily financial and supply chain applications) and in business systems analysis positions for over 35 years.  During that time, she also worked for close to a decade as a project manager and systems development manager before deciding to go back to development.  Her development experience started with IBM Mainframes in the early 80’s and she is now working in OO development using AWS, MongoDB, Python and other current technologies.

During her time as a student, Karen started and maintained in-person study groups for classes both on campus and online.  The success of these study groups is the main reason that Karen continued her education to the masters level – so she could begin facilitating online classes with Boston University.  Helping students by sharing knowledge and experience and then encouraging the students to be their best is rewarding all the way around.
