BU’s Institute for Sustainable Energy rolled out its Carbon Free Boston report at an event on January 29. The report will inform the City of Boston’s Climate Action Plan and pathway to carbon neutrality by 2050. Distinguished panelists weighed in on the findings, and Cutler Cleveland, BU Professor of Earth & Environment, offered an overview of the report’s analysis. Watch the video >>

NIH has published advanced notice of an upcoming funding opportunity that will allow NIH-funded researchers to apply for administrative supplements to support research on bioethical issues.
The Initiative on Cities is accepting proposals for its Early Stage Urban Research Awards through March 17.
The Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future is accepting applications for Graduate Summer Fellows through March 19.
The Global Development Policy Center is accepting applications for affiliated faculty, open to faculty conducting policy-oriented research.

BU’s National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory has made the cut for STAT Madness, a bracket-style competition for U.S. biomedical research put on by STAT Media. Voting begins today.
Professor David Bishop, ECE, Physics, MSE, ME, BME (ENG), has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
Assistant Professor Emily Whiting, Computer Science (CAS), has been awarded a Sloan Research Fellowship.
Sarah Hokanson has been promoted from Director of Professional Development & Postdoctoral Affairs (PDPA) to Assistant Provost in the Office of Research. Under Sarah’s leadership the PDPA office has grown beyond serving postdocs to also encompass professional development for PhD students, support for faculty mentors, and multiple grants, including Postdoc Academy, a $1.8 million NIH project focused on development for postdocs nationwide.
Assistant Professor Steve Ramirez, Psychological & Brain Sciences (CAS), hosted a Reddit AMA on 2/28 on memory and the benefits of memory manipulation for treating anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
