Time for Reflection

The last 21 months have witnessed the most significant upheaval in our lives, both professional as well as personal due to COVID (and we’re still not out of the woods yet). During this time, NCATS has managed to issue the next generation suite of FOAs for the CTSA program as well as hold two technical assistance webinars. Next month, I will discuss the insights and perspectives from our interactions with CTSAs, other interested stakeholders, and NCATS staff that formed the rationale and justifications for much of what is in the entire suite given existing constraints (while I can on occasion suspend the laws of physics, unfortunately I cannot always suspend NIH’s rigid, but ever-changing policies). This month, I wanted to offer some of my perspectives on the overall program after four years at NCATS.

  • Keynote Speaker: Dr. Stefanie Tompkins, DARPA Director followed by Q&A facilitated by DARPA Deputy Director, Dr. Peter Highnam
  • Poster Session: Will include a 2-minute spotlight on each poster, showcasing each Hub’s video recording of their poster followed by a moderated discussion of the overall topic
  • Coordinating Centers Networking Lounge: This session will offer both individual and group networking opportunities in a casual setting, providing the chance to meet with representatives from each of the three Coordinating Centers and connect with other members of the CTSA Program consortium.

NCATS is hosting a virtual event to commemorate the Center’s 10-year anniversary, usher in the next decade of bold solutions and highlight innovative and team-science approaches that are speeding health solutions.
