Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) from the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH)

NIH ORWH has released the administrative supplement (NOT-OD-22-208) to support research highlighting health inequities among women in the United States who are understudied, underrepresented and underreported (U3) in biomedical research. Robust studies exploring sex and gender influences and social determinants of health are needed to reduce inequities. The proposed research must address at least one objective from strategic goals 1, 2, or 3 of the “2019-2023 Trans-NIH Strategic Plan for Women’s Health Research, Advancing Science for the Health of Women.

Key Dates:

First Available Due Date: January 31, 2023

Expiration Date: February 1, 2023

A broad range of research topics studied at the preclinical, clinical, behavioral, and translational levels—including proposals incorporating multilevel interventions, using community-engaged approaches, and focusing on one or more NIH-designated health disparities populations—are encouraged.

Please note that applications may not propose changes to the overall clinical trial, human subject, or vertebrate animal designation of the award. As stated within the NOSI: “It is strongly recommended that the applicant contact both the program officer at the Institute supporting the parent award and the ORWH scientific contact to confirm, ahead of time, that the supplement falls within the scope of the parent award.”
