CTSA Network
To speed up the process by which medical research is translated into clinical applications, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) established the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program in 2006. Under the leadership of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), this award supports high-quality translational and clinical research both locally and nationally across a broad spectrum of diseases and fosters innovation in methods, training, and career development.
The CTSA has created a network of 50 medical research institutions in 31 states and the District of Columbia that receive CTSA program funding and collaborate to innovate translational science. The CTSA network develops and shares a broad range of clinical research tools that facilitate clinical trial design, patient recruitment, and partnerships for commercialization.
The CTSA network is the nation’s premier clinical research network, providing access to experienced research teams, an extensive and diverse population of research subjects, and unsurpassed depth of expertise in study design, study execution, and data analysis. Our goal at CTSI is to be one of the most effective and innovative CTSA hubs in the network, collaborating and sharing tools and resources with others, thereby enhancing the hub’s overall performance.
We run several programs that will enable us to achieve these objectives:
- Recruitment & Retention in Research
- Network Optional Modules providing network resources in stem cell production and biomedical informatics.
In addition, CTSI has developed an extensive set of well-defined metrics for each function which are used to guide our continuous operations management and process improvement. These metrics are shared with the CTSA network, and we are engaged in the development of standardized metrics across all CTSA hubs.
