Watch Institute’s Director of Research respond to presentation on virtue ethics
In February 2023, the Danielsen Institute’s Director of Research, Dr. Steven J. Sandage, responded to a talk given by Dr. Liz Gulliford at Boston College titled, “Forgiveness, Gratitude, and Hope: A Positive Psychological, Philosophical, and Theological Examination.” Dr. Gulliford is from the University of Nottingham and the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. The lecture was part of a consultation by a group of staff from the Jubilee Centre with Dr. David Goodman (a Danielsen Institute alumnus) others at Boston College. Dr. Sandage’s brief response was titled “Virtue Formation begins in the Face of the Other” and touched on themes from Danielsen Institute research involving relational development, dialectical perspectives, psychotherapy applications, and social justice issues in the study of virtue. The event was recorded and you can watch it on YouTube here.
