Danielsen research featured in ATS Colloquy Online

The latest issues of the Association of Theological Schools‘s Colloquy Online featured a summary of several recent Danielsen Institute research projects. Co-authored by Director of Research, Dr. Steven J. Sandage, Research Fellow, Rev. Kristen R. Hydinger, and Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at Fuller Theological School, Dr. David C. Wang, the article summarized 13 Danielsen research studies on spiritual formation and diversity and justice commitments among seminary faculty and seminary students. Some takeaways include:

  1. Seminary faculty commitments to diversity and social justice were positively related to higher levels of compassion, humility, and purpose in life beyond the self.
  2. Among seminary students, a wide range of healthy spiritual formation factors have been positively related to diversity and justice commitments (12 published studies; over 2400 students).
  3. This body of research has been in predominantly Christian seminary contexts and we need greater spiritual and religious diversity in future research in this area.
