Peart Chosen as Schweitzer Fellow

Michelle Peart DMD 08 has been selected to participate in the Schweitzer Fellows Program. As a fellow, she will devote more than 200 hours to improving the community’s oral health. Her project will expand a newly established oral health initiative that provides classroom-based education, screenings, and referrals to 746 underserved children.

The program honors Dr. Albert Schweitzer, a Nobel Peace Prize-winning physician who dedicated his life to providing health care in Africa. Thirty-five local graduate students from disciplines as diverse as law, government, and medicine, to carry out health-related community service projects. Headquartered in Boston, the program also offers fellowships to graduate students in Baltimore, Chicago, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Vermont.
