Residency Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Accredited
BUSDM’s residency program in oral and maxillofacial pathology received accreditation this week from the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation after a site visit and review by the commission this past April.
"I regard this as one other piece in the overall favorable evaluation of the school by the ADA," says Dr. George Gallagher, director of the postdoctoral oral pathology program.
BUSDM impressed the commission in several areas, including the large number (more than 6,500) of diagnostic cases each year that provide experience to trainees and the availability of training in general pathology made possible through the school’s relationship with Boston Medical Center. "That was considered a strong point because the Medical Center is highly regarded," Gallagher says.
"Another area that came up for commendation was the support received from Dean Frankl and the school," he adds. "[The commission was] impressed we received consistent support."
