BU Trustees Grant Armstrong Distinguished Promotion

Dr. Thomas Armstrong joined an elite group of former BUSDM faculty members earlier this month when Boston University’s Board of Trustees promoted Armstrong to the position of clinical associate professor emeritus.
"The Trustees, in taking this action, have recognized your outstanding contributions to the academic programs of the Department of General Dentistry, to your profession, and especialy to your students as a superb and dedicated teacher," President Robert Brown wrote to Armstrong in a letter.
"Your dedication to the school and its educational mission has been outstanding and it is clear to me that you have earned the respect and admiration of your colleagues and students," Dean Spencer Frankl added.
Armstrong came to BUSDM more than three decades ago and retired at a well-attended farewell reception last November.
"We are delighted he will continue to serve as a teacher and role model for the entire BU community," says Chair of the Department of General Dentistry Judith Jones. "Students and alumni will always remember his consummate professionalism and his unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care."
Other BUSDM faculty who received emeritus status include the late Drs. Henry Goldman, Morris Ruben, and Herbert Schilder.
