Dr. Carlos Hirschberg to Speak in Brazil

Dr. Carlos Hirschberg, chair of the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, will lead a conference at the tenth meeting of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) in Salvador, Brazil May 23. The event takes place at the same time as the annual meeting of the Brazilian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
The conference, “Novel Regulation of Posttranslational Modifications in the Golgi Apparatus: From Basic Science to Diseases,” will address a group of transporter proteins Dr. Hirschberg and his team of researchers discovered in an organelle known as the Golgi apparatus.
IUBMB seeks to advance biochemistry and molecular biology through international partnerships, with a focus on regions trying to develop their capacities for biochemistry research.
