Dr. Judith Jones Named Distinguished Scientist by IADR

Dr. Judith Jones, professor and chair of the Department of General Dentistry, received the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Distinguished Scientist Award in the category of geriatric oral research at the opening session of the organization’s annual meeting in New Orleans March 21.
The IADR gives the award annually to scientists who contribute outstanding dental research.
"I am honored and humbled by receipt of this award," says Jones. "Being recognized by one’s peers is the validation of our research in oral-specific health-related quality of life."
"To conduct such work requires a team approach," adds Jones. "I want to recognize the efforts of an incredible research team; my mentors Howard Chauncey, Raul Garcia, and Donald Miller; and my colleagues Nancy Kressin, Avron Spiro III, Carolyn Wehler, and Sharron Rich. It doesn’t get any better than this."
Jones has researched and published extensively in the field of geriatric dentistry, and studies oral health-related quality of life at the Northeast Center to Evaluate and Eliminate Dental Disparities (CREEDD). She is a member and past president of IADR’s Geriatric Oral Research Group.
