Prosthodontic Residents Win Big at ACP Event

Prosthodontic residents from BUSDM received first and third prize at the annual Remo A. Sinibaldi Table Clinic Competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Section of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) July 25 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston. Prosthodontic residents from dental schools in Boston participated in the event.
Dr. Mohammed Fahmi received first prize for his poster, Effect of Surface Treatment on Porcelain Bond Strength to Zirconia. Fahmi will receive Massachusetts ACP funding to present his poster at the national ACP meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona, October 30 to November 3 of this year.
The panel of judges gave third place to Dr. Hadi Al-Bahrani for the poster A Technique to Fabricate Immediate Implant-Supported Provisional Crowns that Support the Interproximal Papilla.
Dr. Hamid Shafie PROS 95 gave a presentation on Overdenture Implants to the approximately 75 attendees, including the prosthodontic program directors from Harvard and Tufts Schools of Dental Medicine and BUSDM’s Program Director Dr. Steven Morgano, who is also the Massachusetts Section President. Shafie recently published a best selling book, Clinical & Laboratory Manual of Implant Overdentures.
The table clinic contest honors the late Remo A. Sinibald, former Chairman of the Department of Prosthodontics at BUSDM and first President of the Massachusetts Section of the ACP.
