Second-Year DMDs Present APEX Research

DMD 10 students who did research during the Applied Professional Experience (APEX) I rotation are taking on some of the most talked about topics in oral health news today. Students presented their findings to school faculty, staff, and students August 8.

Research topics included the diabetes/periodontal disease connection, the health effects of mercury fillings, access to dental care for Massachusetts children, and more. Presenting research were: Jason Conn, Sehwoon Kim, John Kiang, Constance (Annie) Burns, Bing Wan, Lucas Patrick, Ryan Hambleton, Kayhan Mashouf, Aileen Valencia, and Stephanie Sunnes.

The presentations will continue from 1 to 3 PM August 15 with the following students: Robin Yamaguma, Luke Liszka, Erika Kullberg, Adam Swanson, Azadeh Imam, Joel Kim, Thalida Dong, Drew Nunziata, Shrenik Shah, Darren Isfeld, and Jerry Ashrafi.

These students are eligible to apply for BUSDM’s Intensive Research Program, a branch of the Predoctoral Research Program that provides in-depth research training to students during the APEX II rotation, this fall.
