Journal of the Massachusetts Dental Society Honors Dr. Paula K. Friedman

The recently released Winter 2008 Journal of the Massachusetts Dental Society names Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Associate Dean for Administration and Director of the Geriatric Fellowship Program Dr. Paula K. Friedman as one of the 2007 William McKenna Volunteer Heroes.
The Journal of the Massachusetts Dental Society annually names the William McKenna Volunteer Heroes as a way to honor a select group of dentists who have dedicated their energy, skills, and time to the profession of organized dentistry. Dr. Friedman was chosen based on her volunteer experience with the Yankee Dental Congress, Women’s Leadership Task Force, Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) Leadership Institute, MDS Council on Education, and Board of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Friedman has notably served as one of the first MDS Guest Board Members and as an Alternate Delegate to the ADA House of Delegates for the past two years.
Dr. Friedman believes strongly in the value of organized dentistry, highlighting how involvement has opened doors which may have otherwise been inaccessible in her career. She feels a particular affinity for the MDS, stating, "At any stage of your career you will find social, educational, and professional resources within MDS."
She is extremely honored to be awarded such high praise by the MDS. "MDS is fortunate to have so many talented and dedicated members," said Dr. Friedman. "This is an exceptional honor for me because I recognize the number of my MDS colleagues that are equally or more deserving of this award."
“This is a wonderful accomplishment and one Dr. Friedman should feel very proud of achieving, especially since it is an honor bestowed upon her by her colleagues,” said Dean ad interim Dr. Jeffrey Hutter. "I know I speak for everyone at BUGSDM in conveying our sincerest congratulations to Dr. Friedman.”
