Prosthodontic Resident Takes First Place

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) resident Mohammed Fahmi PROS 10 received first prize at the annual Remo A. Sinibaldi Table Clinic Competition sponsored by the Massachusetts Section of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) June 18 held at the Marriott Copley Place Hotel in Boston. Prosthodontic residents from the three dental schools in Boston participated in the competition. This is the second year in a row that Dr. Fahmi has received first prize.

The title of Dr. Fahmi’s poster this year was, Thermal shock of porcelain veneered zirconia with various surface treatments.  Dr. Fahmi will receive funding from the Massachusetts ACP Section to present his poster at the 38th National ACP meeting in Nashville, Tennessee on October 29 – November 1.

The table clinic competition honors the late Remo A. Sinibaldi, former Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics at BUGSDM and first president of the Massachusetts Section of the ACP.

"It is an honor to be selected as the first prize winner for the second year in a row and to represent BUGSDM at the National ACP meeting," said Dr. Fahmi. "I began working on this research with no prior experience, so I am incredibly grateful to everyone who helped me, no matter how large or small of a role they played. I am especially thankful to Dr. Russell Giordano, my advisor; Dr. Richard Pober; and Dr. Steven Morgano."
