ADA Foundation Awards Dental Student Scholarship

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) student Ty Eriks DMD 11 was awarded a $2,500 Dental Student Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year by the ADA Foundation. This performance-based scholarships is given annually to outstanding second-year students based on academic achievement and strong recommendations. Eriks was one of 25 students nation-wide to receive this scholarship and the only student from BUGSDM.
"I am honored and ecstatic to receive this scholarship," said Eriks.
Eriks grew up in Seattle, Washington and later attended the University of Washington (UW). At UW he was a stand-out member of the Huskies football team, playing on the defensive line and also at fullback. He came to Boston for dental school along with his fiancé who is studying to be a lawyer at Boston University.
Academic success is nothing new to Eriks as he received Pac-10 All-Academic honors four years in a row at UW. He is also a member of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
"Ty should be very proud of his accomplishment ," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter. "On behalf of the entire BUGSDM community I congratulate him and encourage him to keep up the good work ."
