Dr. Steven Morgano Appointed Chief Academic Officer of BUIDRE Dubai

Dr. Steven Morgano was appointed Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of the Boston University Institute for Dental Research and Education (BUIDRE) Dubai. Effective December 1, Dr. Morgano and his wife Kathy will relocate to Dubai and reside there full-time. 

Dr. Morgano will replace Dr. Tom Kilgore as CAO. Dr. Kilgore will continue in his role as BUGSDM Associate Dean for Advanced Education and International Programs.

"Dr. Kilgore has been instrumental to the successful establishment of BUIDRE and his contributions to the Institute and on behalf of the residents have been invaluable," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter. "On behalf of Boston University and BUIDRE, I extend my sincerest appreciation and thanks to Dr. Kilgore."

Dr. Morgano received his DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1976. He completed a general practice residency program at Philadelphia General Hospital in 1977, and received his specialty certificate in prosthodontics from the Hines Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 1979. In 1984, Dr. Morgano became a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. 

Dr. Morgano has been on the faculty at the BUGSDM since 1987. >From 1999 to 2001, Dr. Morgano was on official leave of absence from Boston University and served as one of the founding faculty members of the Faculty of Dentistry, Kuwait University. During his tenure at Kuwait University, Dr. Morgano was Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences. He was also Chair of the Continuing Education Committee and of the Examinations Committee, and served as a member of the Curriculum Committee, the Physical Facilities Committee, and the Clinical Affairs Committee. While in Kuwait, Dr. Morgano also worked as a committee member for the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialization and was Chair of the Board of Examiners for the Dental Licensing Examination for the State of Kuwait.

Prior to joining BUGSDM, Dr. Morgano was Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Clinical Instructor at Tufts University, and Clinical Instructor at Loyola University.

"My wife and I are both very excited about this new opportunity," said Dr. Morgano. "BUIDRE Dubai is off to a wonderful start but there is still a lot to be done. By focusing full-time on BUIDRE I hope to be able to get things running smoothly and also to begin recruiting more academic staff."
