Dr. Eva Helmerhorst Appointed to Journal of Dental Research Editorial Board

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Assistant Professor Dr. Eva Helmerhorst was appointed to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Dental Research by the Publications Committee of the International and American Associations for Dental Research ( IADR & AADR).

Dr. Helmerhorst’s term on the board begins January 2009 and concludes December 2011. The Committee recommended Dr. Helmerhorst for this post based on her strong contributions to scientific literature, which number 40 papers total, and her performance as a thorough and constructive reviewer of papers for the Journal.

As a member of the Editorial Board, Dr. Helmerhorst will be reviewing manuscript submissions in the areas of salivary research, antimicrobial proteins, protection against gum disease, and microbiology.

"I am honored to receive this appointment," said Dr. Helmerhorst. "I feel that the Publications Committee has shown an appreciation of my science and my judgment of other people’s science with this appointment."

The Journal of Dental Research has the highest scientific impact factor of any peer-reviewed original research journal in the dental field.

"Dr. Helmerhorst should be very proud of this achievement," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter. "It is an honor for BUGSDM to have a research faculty member selected for such a prestigious appointment."
