AEGD Honors Graduates

The Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program held a reception for 2009 graduates on June 26.
Professor and Chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials Dr. Dan Nathanson and Clinical Professor and AEGD Director Dr. John Cassis hosted the event and welcomed graduates, faculty, and staff to the reception. Associate Dean for Administration, Director of Geriatrics and Gerontology, and Director of the Geriatric Dentistry Fellowship Program Dr. Paula Friedman and Alumni Board President Shadi Daher DMD 90, OMFS 94 also gave brief speeches.
During the reception Justin Craighead DMD 08, AEGD 09 was presented with the Award for Clinical Excellence 2009 and Dr. Craighead and Naila Ladha DMD 08, AEGD 09 won the joint award for AEGD Clinical Proficiency.
“The journey through the program was not easy," said Dr. Cassis. "It was hard and sometimes a bumpy ride. But here we are at the end, and what a nice finish to the journey." Dr. Cassis continued, "I commend all of you for your dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm for learning. I have enjoyed every moment I have spent with you and only wish that from now on we keep in touch and stay united.”
“I signed your program completion documents without any concern or hesitation, knowing how much better you’ve become in just one year," said Dr. Nathanson. "If I’m allowed to offer one additional piece of professional advice this evening, please remember that the one most important consideration in establishing a treatment plan is the best interest of the patient.”
