Qatar Tribune Highlights Work of Dr. Hema Kapadia

Alum and former Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine faculty member Hema Kapadia (Stallard) PEDO 72 was featured in the March 30 edition of the Qatar Tribune for her work at the Shafallah Center. The Shafallah Center is a Center of Excellence that provides comprehensive services and care to individuals with developmental learning challenges, their families, and the community. It is located in Doha, Qatar.

The GCC Oral Health Committee sponsored GCC Oral Health Week, and as part of this the Shafallah Center held an event titled, "Your Health is in Your Smile," where more than 50 children with special needs were examined and treated. Dr. Kapadia conducted the oral health check-ups. She is currently a Specialist Periodontist at the Family Dental Clinic in Qatar.

GCC Oral Health Week aims to raise awareness about oral health diseases in Qatar. The GCC Oral Health Committee has also announced plans to conduct an oral health survey in 2011 to find out the prevalence of dental diseases, especially among children.
