GSDM Debates Tufts in Highly Anticipated Rematch

GSDM students debated hot topics in the field of dental medicine against Tufts students on February 3. GSDM argued in favor of adding Botox administration to the scope of a general dentist’s practice and that less care is better than no care in terms of advanced dental hygienist practitioners. The students argued against communities continuing to fluoridate water in light of the recent rise of fluorosis.
Debate team members included James Lee DMD 14, Lauren Greco DMD 12, and Derrick Call 12. Clinical Assistant Professor Dr. Negar Nasseripour was the GSDM judge and faculty representative. Approximately 25 GSDM students and faculty attended the event and reception that followed.
“Unfortunately we were not victorious,” said participant Heather Parsons DMD 11. “But the team did a great job preparing and debating their assigned topics!”
This is the second annual debate that has taken place between dental students from GSDM and Tufts. Both were sponsored by the Massachusetts Dental Society. GSDM came out of the first debate as the winner, so the score now stands at 1-1.
