Students Triumph on the Court

For the second year in a row the student team defeated the faculty and staff team at the Annual SNDA Basketball Game. The final score was an extremely close 59-57 in favor of the students, who now lead the faculty two games to one, since SNDA began hosting this event in 2009.

This year marked the first year with official cheerleaders present for both teams and they upped the energy of the crowd with their handy megaphones. Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter and Dr. Carl McManama served as the game’s official referees and Dr. Joseph Calabrese coached the student team. The students appreciated the passion he brought to his coaching position, but were surprised when his lively dispute of a call got him cuffed and escorted out of the game. Luckily he was able to sort out his behavior in time to return and see his team claim the victory. 

Students on the winning team included: Grant Murray DMD 14, Joe Hackstie DMD 13, John Greiner DMD 13, Ernie Tchoi DMD 13, Bryan Dawley DMD 13, Peter Lee DMD 12, Chad Rebhun DMD 12, Kevin Dong DMD 12, Joe Kabaklian DMD 12, Josh Morrow DMD 12, Alex Vasserman DMD 11, Boris Stein DMD 11, Kennie Kwok DMD 11, Ryan Smith DMD 11, and Saif Naji DMD 11.

Faculty on the losing team included: Drs. Schiano, Jones, Liu, Ziadeh, Moran, Cancado, Arcieri, Pellegrino, Mollica, Landa, and Davis as well as staff members: Janet Huh, Marissa Scatena,  Mac Pierre , Krysta Peplowski, and Roslyn George.
