GSDM Promotes Oral Health in Mattapan’s Haitian Community

On May 5, 2012, Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) faculty members Dr. Shiro Kamachi and Dr. Hideo Yamamoto joined Community Health Programs (CHP) Oral Health Promotion Director Ms. Kathy Lituri and eighteen GSDM students and residents at the Inite Pou La Sante/United for Health Fair. This event was held at the Voice of the Gospel Tabernacle in Mattapan.

Fair services included health and nutrition counseling, cancer education, blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, eye exams, and dental screenings. This is the fourth consecutive year that GSDM has provided dental screenings at this event. Community Health Programs invited the Massachusetts Section of the American College of Prosthodontics to participate in the event as part of ACP Prosthodontics Awareness Week.
