Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department Welcomes New Residents at Annual Barbecue
The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery welcomed its incoming residents at its second annual Resident Barbecue, held on Sunday, July 22, 2012. Approximately 80 people—including faculty, staff, and alumni—attended the event, which took place at the home of Chair of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs Dr. Pushkar Mehra.
The three incoming residents are T.J. Dyer from the University of Michigan, Ched Rebhun from Boston University, and Anastasios Sakellariou from the University of Athens. In addition, two new preliminary interns, Mohamed Al-Janabi and Johannes Seywerd, joined in the celebrations.
Dr. Mehra noted, “It was nice to have all current residents, faculty, and staff get together to meet and socialize in a casual atmosphere.” He continued, “Many people came with their families and this event gave everyone the opportunity to get to know one another. Such events are important in boosting the morale of the department.”
Special thanks go to Residency Coordinator Cheryl Flynn and Administrative Coordinator Bridget Pelkie for organizing the event.
