Nothing Personal Intramural Softball Team Repeats, Wins Championship

Christopher Connell DMD 15 is no stranger to intramural championships. Having won championships in flag football, dodgeball, and softball, Connell is building an intramural trophy room to rival the likes of Bill Russell or Michael Jordan. However, Connell’s softball team Nothing Personal winning this summer’s Summer Softball League championship could be his sweetest victory yet.

Nothing Personal entered this season as the defending champions of the 2013 title in Summer Softball. Teams looked out for them, hoping to catch them on an off day. Connell, the co-captain of Nothing Personal with David Garazi DMD 15, knew they had to keep their team ready. With a strong lineup of talented faculty and students, that wasn’t a problem.

“We dominated through the regular season,” reflected Connell. “We were the number one seed in the tournament.”

The number one seed in the tournament carried Nothing Personal through the competition and right into the championship game. Despite an upset victory in the other side of the bracket, their 13-1 win in the championship game sealed another banner season for Nothing Personal.

“The team played well the entire game,” Connell reflected on the championship game. “It was awesome.”

For Connell, one of the most inspiring things to see was the performance of some of his newer teammates.

“The new guys brought an enthusiasm and contributed a lot,” he said. “It really brought a breath of fresh air to some of the guys on the team who have been playing for the past few years.”
