Endodontic Alumni Association Holds 2015 Fall Meeting

The Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Endodontic Alumni Association held its 2015 Fall Meeting from October 7-11 in Nashville, Tennessee. During the 2015 Fall Meeting, more than 60 attendees and their families enjoyed four days and evenings packed with scientific and social events that took place at the Omni Nashville Hotel and around the city of Nashville.
The Endodontic Alumni Association Fall Meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Benjamin Locke ENDO 79 and his wife Lucy, kicked off on Thursday, October 8, with a welcome address from Associate Professor in the Department of Endodontics and Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Endodontics Dr. Sami Chogle.
Dr. Chogle welcomed the more than 60 alumni to the Nashville meeting and thanked Dr. Locke and his wife Lucy for putting together such a wonderful program. Dr. Chogle also thanked Dr. Marshall Michaelian ENDO 01 for the outstanding job of leading the alumni as president for the past two years, while also welcoming in the new president, Dr. Juan Savelli ENDO 03.
After updating everyone in attendance about the new CBCT Sirona XG3D machine that was recently installed in the Post-doctoral Endodontic Patient treatment Center, Dr. Chogle thanked the alumni association, with special thanks going to Drs. Peter Morgan ENDO 75 and John West ENDO 75 for spearheading the fundraising.
Dr. Chogle then urged the alumni in attendance to visit GSDM in the future.
“Please consider returning to Boston sometime in the future to perhaps present a lecture or a demonstration to our residents,” said Dr. Chogle. “Your continued support of both the Endodontic Program and our Endodontic Alumni Association mean a great deal to me and all of GSDM’s Endodontic alumni.”
Dr. Chogle then introduced the five residents representing the class of 2016 and 2017 that were present at the meeting: Dr. Yousef Alnowailaty ENDO 17, Dr. Francesca Cardinale ENDO 17, Dr. Mona Haghani ENDO 17, Dr. Tammam Sheabar ENDO 16, and Dr. John Workman ENDO 16. He asked each of them to speak in their own words, about the Patient Treatment Center, faculty and alumni support.
After Dr. Chogle’s welcome address, the Endodontic Alumni Association 2015 Fall Meeting kicked off with several presentations delivered by alumni as well as several other events for the alumni and their families attending the meeting.
Presenters during the Endodontic Alumni Association 2015 Fall Meeting were Dr. John Hughes ENDO 83, Dr. Blake McKinley Sr. ENDO76, Dr. James Tinnin ENDO 78, and Dr. John West ENDO 75.
Dr. Hughes presented “Butts in the seats… How to Get ‘Em There,” which focused on all aspects of running a practice and managing staff, and “Herding the Cats and Other Issues in Group Practice,” which focused on the process of growing a group practice. Both these presentations took place on Thursday, October 8.
Dr. McKinley Sr. presented “Insights into Volunteer Dentistry at Home & Abroad,” which provided those in attendance with information about how to volunteer as a dentist. His presentation also took place on Thursday, October 8.
Dr. James Tinnin delivered a presentation titled “Endodontist in Implants,” which focused on implants in endodontics. The presentation took place on Friday, October 9.
Dr. John West delivered the final presentation of the Endodontic Alumni Association 2015 Fall Meeting. Dr. West’s presentation was titled “Disruptive Endodontics and Great Endodontist: Are You Prepared?” It took place on Saturday, October 10, and gave attendees information on how to maintain excellence in the ever-changing field of endodontics.
While the presentations offered alumni an opportunity to engage with, and hear from, other professionals, the Endodontic Alumni Association 2015 Fall Meeting also offered several fun activities for the alumni and their families.
These events took place around the city of Nashville. They included a “Classic Country Show” at the Ryman Auditorium; a tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame; a tour of Franklin, Tennessee; a lunch at the exclusive Brentwood Country Club; a private showing and demonstration at the Margaret Ellis Jewelry store; and a special lunch at M Restaurant & Bar.
The Endodontic Alumni Association 2015 Fall Meeting ending on Saturday, October 10, with a Dinner Banquet, which concluded with entertainment from three songwriters.
