Graduating Students Say Goodbye to GSDM During Senior Weekend
From Friday, May 6, to Sunday, May 8, 2016, graduating DMD and Advanced Standing (AS) DMD students at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) celebrated their achievements during GSDM’s annual Senior Weekend.
Senior Weekend for the Class of 2016 kicked off on Friday, May 6th, with an ASDA Hour for the DMD students at Estragon in the South End and a graduation party for the Advanced Standing DMD students at Clery’s in Boston.
Alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and pre-doctoral students gathered the next day, Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Norwood Country Club for the seventh annual ASDA Golf Tournament. GSDM’s ASDA chapter raised more than $13,000 from the tournament. This is the highest amount ever raised at an ASDA Golf Tournament.
The winners of the cart decorating/best dressed contest were David Lane DMD 16, Alyssa Mazzoli DMD 16, Mike Mayr DMD 16, and Sloane Kaminski-Dietzel DMD 18. Katie Quan DMD 19 won the Ladies’ Long Drive contest. Patrick Shea from Patterson Dental won the Men’s Long Drive contest. Dr. Scott Goldberg OMFS 17 won the putting contest. The winning team members were Justin Choi DMD 19; Patrick Richard DMD 19; Mr. Joe Richard; and Mr. Charlie Capps.
The festive weekend wrapped up on Sunday at the BU Pub on the Charles River campus, where Student Affairs and Development & Alumni Relations hosted the Senior BBQ. Each member of the Class of 2016 received a commemorative engraved glass stein as a gift from the Alumni Association.
“Senior Weekend is always a great time,” said Dr. Joseph Calabrese, Assistant Dean of Students. “It is a wonderful way for us celebrate our graduating students. They dedicate so much while they are students here and it is great to have a little fun before Commencement weekend.”
