GSDM volunteers partner with local schools to screen 88 athletes during 2024 Special Olympics Massachusetts Summer Games
On Saturday, June 8, 60 volunteers from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM), Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences provided oral healthcare services to athletes participating in the 2024 Special Olympics Massachusetts Summer Games as part of the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes® Special Smiles program. Joseph Johnson is GSDM’s assistant director of director of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belong—a position he has had since January 2023. In this role, he pulls from skills developed from both his athletic coaching and social work experiences to provide support to initiatives created Larry Dunham DMD 83, assistant dean for diversity, equity, Inclusion, & belonging, and develop new programming, such as the Pre-Matriculation Enrichment Program and climate surveys.
