Translational Dental Medicine

The mission of the Department of Translational Dental Medicine is to drive discovery and propel innovation in dental and biomedical sciences; promote translation of research findings to the clinic; provide a robust training environment for students, residents, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty in basic, translational and clinical sciences; and contribute to GSDM’s educational programs through teaching and mentoring.

The department is committed to bridging the gap between basic research and the clinic. Department faculty work in multidisciplinary teams investigating head and neck cancer, epigenomics, stem cells, inflammation, bone and cartilage biology, the oral microbiome, extracellular matrix, vascular abnormalities, and the immune landscape. The faculty have established collaborations across BU and beyond, applying cutting edge approaches in computational and data science, structural biology, biomedical engineering, and tissue regeneration among others. The department is also actively involved in training students, residents, and faculty.
