Meal Plans
How do I sign up for a meal plan?
Whether you’re a first year on-campus resident, commuter, or graduate student all students should sign-up for a meal plan using Student Link.
When does my meal plan start?
Your meal plan is activated via your Terrier identification card the date you take occupancy of your residence.
How does my meal plan work?
Meal plans come with both meals and points. Meals are automatically loaded onto your Terrier Card. Student’s can check their balance using the Student Link. One meal equals one entry for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at any residence dining room. Dining points are accepted at any on campus eatery or at City Convenience stores. One dining point is equal to one dollar. Browse our full list of where to spend meals and points.
How do I pick a meal plan?
Meal plan options are designed to fit student life style. Plans with more meals allow maximum flexibility and access into the dining rooms. Consider your eating habits, class schedule, and frequently visited locations on campus when choosing a plan.
When are the dining halls open?
You can always check our Open Now page to see if the location you are hoping to visit is open. Typically, breakfast lasts from 7 am-11 am, lunch is from 11 am – 5 pm and dinner is from 5 pm-9 pm.

What's on the menu?
Not sure which dining room to choose? You can check the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner at all four dining rooms on our website before heading over. All menu items are clearly marked with attribute icons identifying vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, kosher, or Sargent Choice foods. From sizzling stir-frys to brick oven pizza to comforting cereal to locally-sourced deli meats you’re sure to find a taste to enjoy.
I have an allergy or special diet, how can I manage it in the dining rooms?
If you have an allergy or special diet reach out to us. We’ll connect you with the experts at Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation, where personal assistance is offered to safely eat in the dining rooms.
Does BU Dining buy ingredients from local growers?
Absolutely. BU Dining serves nearly 3 million meals a year and with the dedicated leadership of BU Dining’s sustainability director, we purchase ingredients from more than 25 growers within 250 miles of campus, as well as use locally caught seafood and other locally produced foods.
How are safe food handling practices ensured?
BU Dining provides extensive and ongoing education for team members. Led by BU Dining’s safety director, safe food handling practices are at the core of dining operations. Our response plan continues to evolve and follow strict guidelines from the State of Massachusetts, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, and City of Boston health code policies.
