BU’s Student Resources

At Boston University, we think of ourselves as a big small community. And that’s especially true for our students. With hundreds of clubs and organizations, housing based on shared interests, and a curriculum that values experiential and collaborative learning, there are countless avenues to find your people—and your place.

If you’re first in your family to attend college, you can connect with hundreds of students just like you through our first-generation student program. If you’re looking for a welcoming place to discuss the issues of the day, from race to gender to politics, there’s a conversation waiting for you at the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground. And if you have a physical disability, our Disability & Access Services will make sure nothing stands in your way.

And don’t forget about your new zip code. Boston is a cosmopolitan urban center comprising dozens of distinct, diverse neighborhoods that offer abundant cultural experiences. But it’s not just campus, the classroom, or the city that has the power to expand your world and your worldview. The study abroad and internship opportunities at BU are legion, with more than 80 study abroad programs and 4,000 internship opportunities worldwide. We also connect undergrads with like-minded alums—at last count, there were nearly 400,000 scattered across the globe—working in fields our students are interested in.

While far from exhaustive, below is a sampling of resources you might find useful in exploring the BU community. Many schools and colleges have web pages devoted to their own student groups and diversity offices, as do the three schools of the Medical Campus.
