Emerging Scholars Program

Each year, academic departments at Boston University can apply through their school/college academic leadership and BU D&I to host an Emerging Scholars Program. Emerging Scholars Programs are structured meetings wherein BU academic departments invite emerging scholars – typically late-stage terminal degree candidates – from other institutions to engage in, for example, networking and professional development opportunities, research presentations, panel discussions, and mentorship. The emerging scholars themselves must come from racial or ethnic groups that are underrepresented in the academy.

Inclusion Catalyst Grants

Inclusion Catalyst Grants support collaborative and creative programs and initiatives that generate learning, and stimulate efforts that catalyze foster inclusive and equitable communities at Boston University. The Inclusion Catalyst Grants program provides up to $1,000 to Boston University students, faculty, and staff who require financial support to fully realize their programs.

Learn More Grants

Boston University Diversity & Inclusion (BU D&I) is proud to extend last year’s Learn More Series theme, Indigenous Identities and Experiences, into the 24-25 academic year! 

Each year, we dedicate ourselves to examining a single topic of social importance through our Learn More Series. This signature series invites us to stand in solidarity with underrepresented and historically marginalized communities and challenges us to better understand the history and lived experience of these communities in their full complexity. The series has evolved to include nationally renowned speakers, workshops, panel discussions, art installations, film screenings, community read-alouds, and many other components. 

Another key component of the series? YOU! BU Diversity & Inclusion offers grant funding to support faculty, staff, and students in creating community, building capacity, and exploring research related to each year’s theme. This year, the Learn More Series has two grant funding categories: Community Grants (for faculty, staff, and students) and Research Grants (for faculty of any type and postdoctoral fellows with contracts that continue through the grant year).
