In the light of expected announcements in Ferguson, MO this week, we wanted to make you aware of a few events taking place this week that are open for reflection, discussion and support if you are looking for it.

– Marsh Chapel and Umoja are hosting a Candlelight Vigil in response to the Ferguson Grand Jury Decision on Tuesday, December 2 at 7 p.m. on Marsh Plaza.

– Dean Elmore’s Coffee and Conversation this week in the Howard Thurman Center (Friday, 3-5 p.m.) will discuss issues raised by the situation in Ferguson, MO.

The Mother: A Cantata for Ferguson, a discussion and opera performance surrounding issues raised by the events of Ferguson, will take place Wednesday, November 19th at 8pm in Marsh Chapel.

– There is a previously scheduled Town Hall Meeting on safety on Wednesday, November 19th at 7 p.m. in CGS 511 with the Boston University Police Department (BUPD) and Dean Elmore. While this event is meant mostly to discuss safety and security within the BU community, you are welcome to ask any questions you may have about the topics raised by the situation in Ferguson there.

– Stay tuned to the websites and social media of Marsh Chapel, the School of Theology and the Howard Thurman Center, who may offer additional programs and events if the need warrants.
