How do I get to the Dean of Students office?
So many students come up to Dean Elmore and say, “I have wanted to stop by your office for a while now…but I am not sure exactly where it is.”
We know. It’s complicated. The George Sherman Union has a few unique qualities, and one of them is the hidden alcove that is our office. (Part alcove, part proposed elevator shaft…it’s a long story from the 1960s.)
We really do want you to come visit us. We have free coffee, tea and water. We have several Deans and staff happy to meet with you. So all that’s left is to actually get here.
There are two ways: the stairs and the elevator.
First, the stairs:
Take the staircase in the Link up one floor. Walk past the art gallery and through the two sets of doors towards Metcalf Hall (aka, where you had a lot of Orientation.) You’ll see a bunch of black and white photos of professors in front of you. Turn to your left, and you will see a door that says, “BU Dean of Students.” Go through that door and up one flight of stairs (you’ll pass quite a few giant posters from past MLK Day events.) You’ll see a door with a square window (or it might even be propped open.) Hooray! You’ve found us.
Second, the elevator.
Go through the GSU Food Court. Make your way towards the elevator. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Once you get off the elevator, take a sharp left and go down that hallway towards a gray door. Then turn right towards the glass doors. That is the Dean’s Study Lounge. Go through that, and you’ll see another set of glass doors that say, “BU Dean of Students” at the very top. You’ve found us!
