A message for the community on sexual misconduct

The following message was sent via email to the University community on March 16, 2016.
Friends:

Unfortunately, sexual assault and instances of sexual misconduct remain troubling issues in our communities. We must remain committed to making Boston University an environment where we can all be our best – and we cannot be at our best if we are not safe or if we feel that we are limited in our ability to participate, fully, within this community. The tragic harms of sexual assault, sexual harassment, violence in relationships, and stalking require our attention.

It is essential that all members of our community understand what constitutes sexual misconduct and be prepared to respond appropriately to reports or observations of sexual misconduct in accordance with our University standards, as well as applicable laws. As a responsible member of this community, we ask that you set aside time to complete this online education session on recognizing and responding to sexual misconduct in its many forms. The education session offers information about the forms sexual misconduct may take, and provides resources.

We know you are busy, and appreciate you taking time to review this information. Ensuring that we maintain a safe and supportive environment is a high priority – we are very grateful for your participation.

Many thanks and best wishes,
