Discovering Nautical Maps

Students of the Fall 2018 BU Venice program enrolled in the Italian language course will interview the owner of one of the few places in Italy were up-to-date nautical maps can still be found. Students will discover how these maps are made and used in current times, and will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the artistic aspects (such as painting, editorial, and publishing techniques) and historical significance of the production of these nautical maps, This event allows students to practice and increase their knowledge of Italian lexicon, as well as become familiar with the water environments of Venice.
