Career development begins in early childhood. Seriously? Yes!

This practice forum, sponsored by the Center for Future Readiness at BU Wheelock and the industry-led Coalition for Career Development Center, describes the critical importance of nurturing children’s imagination about the world of possibilities.

Professor Kimberly Howard will describe how developing social and emotional learning skills and career awareness provides the foundation for healthy identity development.

Anne Lund, senior director for content and curriculum at PBS KIDS will describe their motivation and goals for creating new career readiness content and resources, such as the recently released shorts, “What Can You Become,” and podcast, “Jamming on the Job.”

Dave Peth, founder of Mighty Picnic and Emmy award-winning producer and creator, will describe one of these efforts – PBS KIDS’ newest multi platform series, Lyla in the Loop – and how it combines the development of executive functioning and computational thinking skills with career development.
