BU Shuttle FAQs

What sort of changes can we expect with BU Shuttle service this fall?

Riders will enter only through the front door. Standing passengers must move towards the back of the BUS as spaces become available. Reduced BUS capacities will be illustrated by markings on the floor for standing passengers and on seats for seated passengers. Do not get on a BUS that appears to have reached capacity.

Do I have to wear a mask on the BUS?

Yes, riders must wear face coverings at all times.

How often will buses be cleaned?

The BU Shuttle fleet will be disinfected following peak service times each day, and at night prior to service the following day.

Will schedules and frequency be adjusted?

BUS schedules are adjusted to match usage patterns. Please consult the BUS website or Terrier Transit App (iOS and Android) for the most up-to-date arrival times.

What other transportation options are available on campus besides the BU Shuttle?

  • BU offers all students and employees substantially discounted Bluebikes memberships—just $52.50/year instead of $99.00/year. With seven stations on the Charles River Campus and two on the Medical Campus, Bluebikes provides a fast, cheap, and affordable way to get around. Members may take an unlimited number of (sub-45 minute) Bluebikes trips in a day for no charge.
  • A new Terrier Transit app (iOS and Android) will be launched in mid-August, allowing students to consider all their transportation options and routes in one mobile app—BU Shuttle, MBTA buses and trains, walking, bicycling, Bluebikes, and Zipcar.
  • Most trips on the Charles River Campus can be made in under 20 minutes on foot. Get your steps in!
