Delcenia Collins-Murrell

Director of Student Services

Dr. Delcenia Collins-Murrell serves as the Director of Student Services and focuses on student care and concern efforts across the division and collaborates with campus stakeholders to ensure student success. Specifically, she oversees the efforts to help students in crisis and emergency situations, coordinates student access to the Terrier Meal Share program and emergency assistance funds and chairs the Student Intervention Team and efforts.

Prior to BU, Delcenia worked in Residence Life for over 13 years where she served as the Manager of Living-Learning Communities and Academic Initiatives at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to that, she served as the Associate Director of Residential Education at the University of Louisville and held various leadership roles at the University of Texas at Arlington and Kansas State University. She is an active member of NASPA and ACUHO-I and has presented extensively on topics related to new professional development and leadership advancement. Delcenia holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UT-Arlington, and an MS in College Student Personnel Administration from the University of Central Arkansas, and a BA in English from Mississippi State University. Her dissertation was titled Life on the front lines: Staff experiences handling distressed students and their perceptions of job satisfaction.

Outside of work, Delcenia enjoys cooking, hiking, yoga, amusement parks, watching Netflix, musical plays, going on new adventures, and checking things off her bucket list.
