International Transgender Day of Remembrance Memorial and Flag Installation
Alpert Mall (BU Beach)
Please gather at 9 am at Alpert Mall (also known as BU Beach) to help us place flags in commemoration of those who have died in the past year due to anti-transgender violence. The display will be up until Sunday evening, so stop by the installation anytime over the weekend to honor the lives of all of those in the transgender community that we have lost over the past year.

Remembering Our Transcestors: Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil and Dinner

On this year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), join the Queer Activist Collective (Q), the LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty and Staff, and the LGBTQIA+ Faculty and Staff Network in gathering together as a community in the GSU Metcalf Ballroom to honor the memory of transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. Grassroots activist Michelle Tat will speak and there will be a short program to provide awareness & education about TDOR, including community action steps we can take to prevent future deaths. This will be followed by a name reading ceremony & vigil to highlight the lives of TGNC community members we have lost across New England.
After this vigil, we will join together for a community meal. Please RSVP to attend the community dinner, there is a cap of 50 people. Kirbie MacEwen (they/them), a licensed mental health professional, will be available in a sensory-friendly/self-care zone in the Ziskind Lounge to provide support throughout the event. This Transgender Awareness Month, the Cambridge Healthy Children’s Task Force, with co-sponsors the Cambridge LGBTQ+ Commission, Cambridge Public Library, and Project 10 East (P10), present a panel discussion on the lived experience of transgender and non-binary youth featuring members of SpeakOUT Boston and local community members. This event is hybrid. You can register to come in person or attend the webinar session. Zoom links will be sent to registrants one hour before the event starts.

Mama Bears explores the many ways in which the lives of conservative, Christian mothers are impacted and utterly transformed when they decide to affirm and advocate on behalf of their LGBTQ children. As members of a private Facebook group—which they call the “mama bears” because of the fierceness with which its members fight for their offspring’s rights—they offer one another support and understanding in the struggle to overcome the teachings of their evangelical churches.Panel discussion on support and advocacy for queer youth to follow.
