Congratulations to Dr. Nishchitha Etige on your successfully completing your Ph.D. Defense!
Yesterday on March 28th at 2:30pm, Earth and Environment Ph.D. student Nish Etige completed his defense and presentation for his thesis “Influence of the Kuroshio Extension on the Pacific Decadal Precession and Marine Environment in the Northeast Pacific.”
Years of hard work have come to fruition, and we offer our most sincere congratulations to Nish!
Nish worked with advisor Bruce Anderson to investigate the role of Kuroshio Extension variations on establishing the downstream atmosphere/Pacific Decadal Precession and its effects on the North Pacific marine heatwaves and the marine environment. His previous research experience includes studying Gulf Stream’s Warm Core Rings, conservation of dugongs and seagrass, multipurpose water infrastructure policies, river basin research, environmental flows, and coastal climate change.
Excellent work, Dr. Etige! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future!
